About Me
Photography has been a part of my life since the late 60s. I fell in love with the work of Eugene Atget, Richard Avedon, Brassai, Walker Evans, and Dorothea Lange. But what influenced me the most, like many in my generation, was the work of Ansel Adams, Edward Weston, Paul Strand, and W. Eugene Smith. Photography combined my interest in art and science. I have continued taking pictures, buying photo books, and going to photography galleries my whole life.
I decided to pursue my love of science as a career but never lost my love of photography. I received a PhD in chemistry from MIT and spent much of my career focused on environmental, energy, and climate change issues. As I lost my access to a darkroom I moved on to color photography making Ektachrome slides. As I traveled extensively I always took photographs. With the advent of digital photography I switched early on from film to digital. Software and inkjet printers replaced my love of the darkroom. With the explosion of affordable print on demand I started generating photo books.
This web site provides a selection of photographs I have taken and highlights photography books that I have recently created that are for sale. If you are interested in copies of any photograph please contact me.
